Health specialists will convene at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin today for the 9th Annual Stroke Study Day, planned by the Irish Heart Foundation.
This will incorporate a renewal on the National Stroke Audit being approved out by the Irish Heart Foundation in union with the Department of Health and Children. The revision will create for the first time the funds available for treating stroke in Ireland. At present there is no overall national or regional policy on stroke within the Irish health services.
The intended National Audit of Stroke Care plan will have the funds for a considerable progress in quantifying the knowledge of Irish hospitals for modern stroke treatment, as well as providing a nationwide profile. The intended aspect of the project is to realize a national audit of public acute hospital and community stroke services.
Minister for Health and Children Mary Harney will also attend to initiate an innovative patient information booklet on stroke.
Developed by the Irish Heart Foundation, the 64-page booklet provides a guide on all aspects of stroke for those affected by stroke and their livelihood.
