The Health Service Committee (HSE) is on progress with continuous check on the condition of the 41 Afghan asylum-seekers on hunger strikes at the St.Patrick’s cathedral in Dublin. The executive reported today that tests conducted with men on a regular basis reveals that their condition is stable this morning. The HSE had sent doctors to the cathedral to make sure that the protesters get all the medical attention especially to the teenagers involved in the protest.
It has been recorded that several hunger strikes have been already hospitalized with therapies and dehydration for the individuals with kidney problems but they again rejoined their colleagues after hospitalization.
After all this still the government is refusing to undertake the men’s demand for the political asylum and they responded that they should go according to the normal Asylum processes. However, the protestors said that they have not yet received any fair news from the authorities and they are feared that they would be deported to Afghanistan where they are at the risk of tortures/death.
