Seven million expatriates in Saudi Arabia would come under the supportive health insurance scheme by the end of this year. All arrangements have been made for the victorious implementation of the scheme, said Health Minister Dr Hamad Al-Manie.
Health insurance has been made mandatory for expatriates who would need a certificate proving their membership in an insurance scheme to obtain or renew work-resident permits (iqamas), an Arab News report quoting Saudi Press Agency said.
He said already 262,055 clients have joined the plan, within five weeks. “We have accepted 393 health service providers in different parts of the Kingdom,” said the minister.
