About 60,000 people living in poverty would be qualified for low-cost health insurance from Monday, the next step in Massachusetts' plan to extend health coverage to nearly every resident.
"This is a very momentous beginning. We're actually on the road to universal coverage," said Jon Kingsdale, executive director of the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector, the state agency that designed the new insurance plans.
