City seeks mediation over insurance

The city has requested mediation for its collective bargaining units during the impasse between the city and unions over a proposed health insurance plan, Mayor Nancy Stevens said last night.
The city is not requesting mediation for the fire union, with whom the city continues to negotiate.
The principal issue dividing the parties is the proposed change in the health insurance plan design, Stevens said in a press release handed out after a City Council meeting.
