Low-income households would now get the benefit from the governments new health plan to reduce health insurance fees by half, beginning next year.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare Korea announced recently that it would cut down the health insurance fees for poor people from 4,590 won to 2,620 won a month as it found that the high fees are a huge burden on low-income households.
The ministry would then start the legal process for the revised ordinance of the national health insurance law by Dec. 12, and it plans to pass the law next year.
